“FORWARD!” - Happy New Year - 2022!

As the calendar turns on December 31, we will celebrate the arrival of another New Year, 2022!

 During the past two years of pandemic, political unrest, and personal challenges, by faith we have said that, “We are not going back…we are going forward!” 

 Our theme for this New Year is “FORWARD!”

 When God set the Children of Israel free from slavery in Egypt, Pharaoh soon changed his mind and was in hot pursuit of them. In Exodus 14 the Children of Israel with their backs to Egypt and their face towards the Red Sea feared for their lives.  Moses cried unto God in Exodus 14:15 and the Lord said  unto Moses “…Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward!”

 With 2020-21 behind us, it is time for us to go “FORWARD!”

Jesus said “And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.”  John 10:4

As we enter this New Year with its pandemic and its problems, let us remember we still have all of the promises of God!  As we move “FORWARD!” we must lean upon this promise: “He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee!” Heb. 13:5

While a year of uncertainty lies before us, as Christians and members of GPBC, we can be certain that as we move FORWARD  by faith, our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ will lead us all the way!

There is a hymn I love and the last verse describes the hope we have not only for this New Year, but for eternity!

All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way!

While we do not know all that this New Year holds, we do know the One Who holds us and this New Year! In Eternity we will sing, “Praise the Lord,  Jesus will lead us all the way!”
